For the first time since 2019, the Sul Ross State baseball program is headed back to the American Southwest Conference tournament.
The Lobos received the fifth-seed after breaking a three-way tie for fifth place alongside LeTourneau and Howard Payne.
Sul Ross won the tiebreaker after going 4-2 against both LeTourneau and Howard Payne.
This will be the seventh appearance for the Lobos at the ASC tourney.
East Texas Baptist, the ASC regular-season champs the last two seasons, hosts the tourney in Marshall from May 4-7, Thursday-Sunday.
The Lobos take on fourth-seeded Hardin-Simmons at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 4 in a double-elimination format.
Sul Ross qualified for the ASC tournament in 1998 and 1999. The Lobos last won it all in 1999 as the No. 1 seed over the University of Dallas by a score of 16-3.
The program also made it in 2014, 2016 and 2018. Sul Ross finished fourth at the tournament in 2014 as a six seed.
