Salas And Wiggins Earn LSC Honors

ALPINE, Texas – Junior Leo Salas and freshman Max Wiggins were named to the All-Lone Star Conference baseball team.  This is the first time in program history that any players have earned All-LSC honors.

Salas was named to the first team while Wiggins earned third team honors.

Salas, an outfielder, had 20 doubles, two triples and seven home runs, scored 46 runs, drove in 35 runs and hit. 401 while starting all 47 games he played.  He had 22 multiple hit, 13 multiple run and eight multiple hit games along with a 17-game hitting streak and a 22-game reaching base safely streak.

Currently in the Lone Star Conference, Salas is tied for second in doubles and is fifth in batting average, OPS (1.146) and slugging (.663).  He tied the single-game school record with five hits vs. UT Dallas (Apr. 19) and for school single-season he is second in doubles and hits (69), third in hit by pitch (11) and fifth in total bases (114).

Wiggins, an infielder, had 13 doubles and 12 home runs, scored 38 runs, drove in 47 runs and hit .345 while starting all 50 games.  He had 20 multiple hit, 10 multiple run and 10 multiple hit games along with a 16-game hitting streak and a 19-game reaching base safely streak.

Currently in the Lone Star Conference, Wiggins is third in home runs, ninth in slugging (.621) and 10th in putouts (261).  In school single-season history, he is third in home runs and fourth in at-bats (177.)
