Four Sul Ross State men's basketball players were named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches 2023-2024 honors court.
Deveraux Minix,
Jordan Rhyne,
Omar Ibarra and
Gabe Sanchez were among the more than 2,100 players from all levels of college basketball that were honored.
To be named to the court, a student-athlete must be a junior, senior or graduate student that finished the season with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.
>> DEVERAUX MINIX:
The senior from San Angelo, Texas and Central High School wrapped up his career with the Lobos after joining the program in 2019.
Earning a degree in business administration, Minix played in 21 games while making six starts this past season.
He made six 3-pointers and scored 35 total points while also tallying 52 rebounds, 31 assists, 12 steals and eight blocks.
>> JORDAN RHYNE:
A Permian Basin product out of Crane High School and a 6-foot-3 senior forward, Rhyne played in 10 games with the Lobos.
Receiving a degree in kinesiology, he logged 34 minutes on the court as he grabbed five rebounds while he shot 6 for 7 from within the paint.
>> OMAR IBARRA:
Ibarra, a native of El Paso, Texas and a product of Ysleta High School, earned a master's degree in business administration.
He made 15 starts while playing 24 games for the Lobos as he scored 122 minutes while grabbing 86 rebounds and tallying 42 assists and 20 steals.
Ibarra earned a spot on the American Southwest Conference Distinguished Scholar-Athlete team.
>> GABE SANCHEZ:
A native of Haltom City, Texas and a senior guard, Sanchez earned a degree in kinesiology.
He was named ASC honorable mention this past season making a team-best 53 three-pointers.
Sanchez also scored 310 points to rank second on the squad in scoring while he also had 107 made field goals and 43 made free throws.
He played in all 25 games.
