Lobos Watch Comets Pass By

RICHARDSON, Texas – The Sul Ross State University men's basketball team (2-16 Lone Star Conference, 4-20) lost 82-67 to UT Dallas (6-12 LSC, 7-19), Tuesday night at the UTD Activity Center.

UT Dallas took control early, getting out to a 22-10 lead at the 12:02 mark.  Sul Ross State began to fight its way back in the game.

Junior Ernests Locmelis dropped one in from the parking lot to end a 24-12 run.  That made it 34-34 with 1:38 to go.  Junior Antwonne Holmes scored just in front of the buzzer to put the Lobos up, 38-37 at the break.

The Comets went on a 14-3 run in the first four minutes of the second half to effectively seal the game.

For Sul Ross State, Holmes had 19 points, three steals and blocked two shots while shooting 6-of-12 from the floor and 7-of-8 from the line, freshman Julien Barclay had 10 points and junior Camren Roper had nine points, eight rebounds (all defensive), five assists and five steals.

For UT Dallas, Jordan Balderaz had 19 points and 12 rebounds.

Sul Ross State keeps to the road, Thursday, Feb. 26, playing Midwestern State.  The game is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.
