Senior guard Ethan Yancy was named a Lone Star Conference Preseason Player to Watch.

Yancy is a newcomer to the Lobo men's basketball program.

The Houston, Texas product is a transfer from Division I Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville.

Yancy played in 19 games during the 2023-2024 season as he tallied 10 assists, eight steals and four 3-pointers.

He was considered one of the top 48 junior college players in 2022 after having a stellar season at Northwest Kansas Tech, where he tallied double-digit scoring figures in 24 of the 29 games.

Head coach Xavier Webb enters his fifth season at the helm. The Lobos return nine familiar faces while they added nine new players.

Eight of the nine new faces are transfers.

Sul Ross State begins the season in 13 days with a exhibition against UTEP on Monday, Nov. 4.

Last season's NCAA Division II semifinalist and LSC West Division champion West Texas A&M is predicted to finish first.

Dallas Baptist, the defending LSC East Division champs, are expected to finish second while Lubbock Christian was placed third.
