Box Score 4 EL PASO — This past weekend the Sul Ross State softball team kicked off the season with four exhibition games at El Paso Community College's Valle Verde Softball Field on Friday and Saturday.
The Lobos went 3-1 for the weekend and scored a combined 49 runs.
Sul Ross dropped its first game, 16-14, to Cisco College before winning the second game 18-4 over El Paso Community College.
On Saturday, the Lobos defeated El Paso Community College, 11-7. To end the weekend, Sul Ross won a close 6-3 decision over Cisco College.
Hunter Montes threw a total of 12 innings as she tallied six strikeouts while
Madilyn Martinez fanned four batters in seven innings of work.
To round out the pitching performances,
Erin Trevino struck out two batters in two innings and
Briannah Mejias threw two innings with one strikeout.
Leanza Chambers added to the pitching by striking out two batters in four innings.
Sul Ross belted four home runs.
Jaelyn Zuniga hit two homers while
Camryn Hardin and
Kyndell Garcia each hit one.
