Sul Ross State University Athletics has announced
Kallee Wilkins as the new assistant coach for softball and volleyball.
"I am so excited to be on staff here at Sul Ross and to work alongside Coach Canaba!" said Wilkins.
She most recently served as assistant softball coach and assistant resident director at Northeast Texas Community College in Mount Pleasant, TX from 2019-2021.
Wilkins has also coached a pair of select softball teams, Team Alliance and Texas Elite Platinum. She served as assistant coach from 2015-2017 and head coach from 2017-2020.
"Kallee was a great hire and has some big shoes to fill," said head coach
Troy Canaba. "Sydney (McCallister) and Jackie (Gonzalez) did a great job here and I feel that Kallee will impact the program just as much. She comes from a softball background, but we are teaching her the ropes in volleyball. Coaching is coaching and she does a great job!"
A former softball player, Wilkins played third base and catcher for both Texas A&M- Texarkana and Texas Wesleyan.
She was part of the inaugural softball team at TAMUT from 2017-2019 and was at Wesleyan from 2015-2017. While at TAMUT, the Eagles competed in the NAIA Conference Tournament both years.
Wilkins is a native of Burleson, TX and holds a Bachelor's in Psychology with a minor in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M- Texarkana upon graduation in 2019.
