MARSHALL- Sul Ross baseball will have an opportunity to avenge a three-game sweep this season by Hardin-Simmons as the Lobos will face the Cowboys in the first round of the American Southwest Conference Championship Series hosted by East Texas Baptist University.
Sul Ross (18-22/11-13, ASC) and HSU (25-15/17-7, ASC) are currently scheduled to play at 3:00 p.m. Friday, May 6 at Woods Field on the campus of East Texas Baptist University.
East Texas Baptist (28-12/ 18-6, ASC) finished off the regular season with an 8-4 win over Louisiana College. By winning the final game, ETBU secures one of the final two locations for the first round of the American Southwest Conference tournament. ETBU's 28 wins are the most since the 34 wins in 2005.

Concordia Texas and East Texas Baptist finished first and second in the league standings and will serve as hosts for the 2016 American Southwest Conference Baseball Championship Tournament Series, May 6-8.
For the first time in ASC history the conference championship features two four-team tournaments. The Blue tournament bracket will be hosted by the ASC regular season champion and No. 1 seed Concordia Texas in Austin. The Red tournament bracket will be played in Marshall, Texas and hosted by No. 2 seed East Texas Baptist.
The winners of the Red and Blue brackets advance to the Gold tournament bracket for a best of three-game series. The host of the Gold series will be the higher ranked seed from the Blue and Red bracket winners. The Gold bracket winner is the ASC champion and earns an automatic berth in the NCAA Division III Baseball Championship.
The Red Bracket begins with No. 3 Hardin-Simmons (25-15) vs. No. 6 Sul Ross State (18-22) at 3:00 p.m. No. 2 East Texas Baptist (28-12) will meet No. 7 Howard Payne (19-19) at 7:00 p.m.
Game one in the Blue bracket begins with the defending ASC champions No. 4 UT Tyler (25-15) vs. No. 5 LeTourneau (15-20) at 3:00 p.m. In game two No. 1 Concordia Texas (27-13) will take on No. 8 UT Dallas (21-18) at 7:00 p.m.
The 2016 ASC Baseball Championship Tournament is the 20th postseason event dating back to 1997. NO PETS ALLOWED at the conference tournament per ASC policy, leashed or unleashed, within the confines of the facility.

CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND – Games will be played as a best 2-of-3 series and scheduled Friday-Saturday at predetermined times with Sunday as a weather day.
Qualification. The ASC Baseball Championship Tournament Series will be an eight-team tournament with the top eight seeded teams following conclusion of the regular-season advancing to the championship tournament series. The winner of the tournament series will be the ASC Champion and earn the conference's automatic qualification to the NCAA Division III Baseball Championship.
Seeding and Tie-Break Procedures. In the event of ties to determine the seeding for the ASC Championship Tournament Series, ASC Bylaw 9.1 will be applied.
Tournament Site. The ASC Baseball Championship Tournament Series will be played over two weeks. The FIRST ROUND will consist of two four-team double-elimination brackets with games at the No. 1 and No. 2 seeded team locations. The CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND will be played the following weekend in a best two-of-three game format at the highest remaining seed.
