UTPB StatsALPINE, Texas- After a grueling three-game road series against scholarship opposition the Sul Ross men's basketball team will settle in for some home cooking as the Lobos host NCAA Division II U.T. Permian Basin in a 6 p.m. nonconference bout this Friday at the Gallego Center.
The Lobos, 0-3, are fresh off a 78-56 loss at Lubbock Christian University Tuesday evening in the second half of a back-to-back. Sully dropped an 85-64 decision Monday at Wayland Baptist University.
Sul Ross started the season in Houston against NAIA University of St. Thomas, a game the Lobos fell, 94-61 on November 15.
Jacob Caloss (Poth/PHS) leads the team in scoring after three games averaging 11 points per contest. Rocky Feliciano (El Paso/Hanks) averages 9.3 points per game and has yet to miss a free throw as the Lobos senior currently sits at 18 for 18 from the stripe.
Caleb Thomasson (Ackerly/Sands) and Alex Harrison (Lubbock/Monterey) lead the team in rebounds averaging 6.3 and 4 boards respectively. Thomasson was a point and a rebound shy of reaching a double double in Tuesday's loss at LCU.
The Falcons, who represent the Heartland Conference, post a 3-2 record and are currently on a three-game winning streak following 112-75, 108-60 and 104-78 victories over Arlington Baptist, Southwestern Advent and Paul Quinn.
U.T.P.B.'s Billy Dee Williams leads the team averaging 25.5 points per game while Gary Akbar posts a team best 7.2 rebounds per game.
