Looking Back At Fall 2024

ALPINE, Texas - Sul Ross State University made an impact in the Lone Star Conference (LSC) for the fall 2024 season.  The Lobos had three LSC Players of the Week, six All-Lone Star Conference selections, one LSC All-Academic honoree, 34 additions to the record book with 11 school records and 105 LSC Commissioner's Honor Roll recipients.
 
FOOTBALL
  • Austin Ogunmakin – First Lobo, in any sport, to make All-LSC first team
  • Six All-Lone Star Conference selections
  • Two LSC Players of the Week – Nov. 2 – Carlos Arreola (special teams) and Jordan Morales (offensive)
  • 35 Lone Star Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll selections
  • Ogunmakin led the Lone Star in receiving yards per game (64.82) and total receiving yards (713)
  • Quincy Blair led the LSC with 84 solo tackles (single-season school record) and total tackles per game (11.46)
  • SRSU led the Lone Star Conference in punt return average at 16 yards
  • Carlos Arreola tied the school record for longest field goal – 57 yards vs. Eastern New Mexico (Nov. 2)
  • Vincente Luevano had the longest punt return in school history – 80 yards against Wayland Baptist (Sept. 14
MEN'S SOCCER
  • Went from 1-10-5 (2023) to 6-9-1
  • Lone Star All-Academic – Lewis Coates – First Lobo to accomplish this
  • 29 Lone Star Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll selections
  • Benjamin Aviles was named LSC Goalkeeper of the Week (Nov. 12)
  • Aviles led the Lone Star with 80 saves and set single-season school records for minutes played (1403.07), shutouts (5) and wins (5) as well as career records in shutouts and wins
  • Lobos set season records for shutouts (6) and wins
WOMEN'S SOCCER
  • Posted a win over Texas Lutheran (postseason qualifier)
  • 20 Lone Star Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll selections
  • Lobos led the LSC with 6.38 saves per game
  • Celeste De La Rosa was second in the Lone Star with 5.40 saves per game
VOLLEYBALL
  • Beat St. Edward's in their LSC debut
  • 21 Lone Star Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll selections
  • Tatyana Colon finished among the top five in three career categories including breaking the service ace record (132)
