Schumacher, Fernandez And Mojica Added To Women’s Basketball

ALPINE, Texas – Emma Schumacher, Daisy Fernandez and Leslie Mojica are the newest additions to the Sul Ross State University women's basketball team for the 2025-26 season.  Schumacher and Fernandez are freshmen while Mojica is a junior transfer.

Emma Schumacher | 5-11 | Tivy High School | Kerrville, Texas

Schumacher scored over 1000 points and pulled down over 500 rebounds during her career.  She was Newcomer of the Year (freshman), All-District second team as a sophomore and All-District first team in each of her last two seasons.  Schumacher excelled off the court as she was four-time Academic All-District, TABC Academic All-State and THSCA Academic All-State.  She helped the Antlers go 79-38 and reach the Class 5A Regional quarterfinals her sophomore year.

"We're very excited to welcome Emma as another addition to the Lady Lobos," said Sul Ross State head coach EJ Smith.  "Emma is a great student-athlete who is diligent about studying game films and improving her performance on the court.  We need more players like her to continue to add to the culture of the Sul Ross program.  I believe Emma will be a great teammate and we're excited about her potential success."

Daisy Fernandez | 5-11 | Hanks High School | El Paso, Texas

Fernandez had a strong senior year averaging 17 points, nine rebounds and six assists per game.  She was All-District first team, All-City first team and All-Region first team.  Fernandez had over 1000 points and 500 rebounds during her career.  She helped the Knights go 72-48 and post an undefeated season in Class 5A District 2 (10-0) as a junior.

"We are eager to welcome Daisy Fernandez to our women's basketball program," said Smith.  "She has shown improvement with each season in high school, with a great strength to play inside and out.  We're excited to see how Daisy can continue to build her career and add to her achievements here in Lobo territory."

Leslie Mojica | 5-8 | BYU Hawaii | Andress High School | El Paso, Texas

Mojica played in 52 games over two seasons with the Sharks.  She was selected to the Hawaii Classic All-Tourney team, member of the Dean's List and named to the PacWest All-Academic team in 2023-24.

As a senior at Andress, Mojica was All-City, Class 5A All-State and Defensive MVP.  She helped the Eagles go 93-29 and win four Bi-District championships.  Mojica lettered in softball and volleyball as well as basketball and was the Female Athlete of the Year at Andress (2022-23).

"We're happy to have Leslie Mojica join our women's basketball program," said Smith.  "She brings valuable experience from playing at Hawaii Pacific.  Leslie is eager to earn her degree, create lifetime relationships at Sul Ross and help our program, on and off the court."
