Sul Ross State Competes At Our Lady Of The Lake

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Senior Ariana Escalante finished among the top five as the Sul Ross State University cross country team ran at the OLLU Classic, Saturday. Eight of the 10 runners ran a PR.

For the women (6K), Our Lady of the Lakes scored 22 points to win by 31 over Dallas. The Lobos scored 90 points to place fourth.

Escalante ran 24:41.10 to finish fourth. That is the second fastest time in program history. Rounding out the squad was freshman Olivia Hoelscher (30:24.10 – 18th), sophomore Alisandra Garcia (31:24 – 21^st), freshman Josabeth Hernandez (33:15.60 – 23^rd) and junior Ana Garcia Camara (34:32.80 – 24^th).

For the men (8K), Our Lady of the Lakes scored 22 points to win by 16 over Texas Southmost. The Lobos scored 101 points to place fourth.

The top runner was senior Carles Guerrero who ran 30:52.70 to finish 13th. Rounding out the squad was sophomore Francisco Santacruz (35:25.70 – 20^th), sophomore Racer Portillo (36:50.30 – 21^st), freshman Trajan Toliver (42:09.60 – 23^rd) and freshman Joshua Nunez (43:21.20 – 24^th).

Sul Ross State will run at the DBU Old Glory Gallop, Saturday, Oct. 11. The meet is in Dallas.
