Sul Ross State Competes At LSC Meet

RICHARDSON, Texas –The Sul Ross State University cross country team ran at the Slone Star Conference Championships, Saturday.

For the women (6K), West Texas A&M scored 37 points to win by 40 points over Midwestern State. Rounding out the top five was UT Tyler (3^rd – 80 points), Dallas Baptist (4^th – 109 points) and Oklahoma Christian (5^th – 185).

The top runner was senior Ariana Escalante who ran 24:53.66 to finish 65th. Rounding out the squad was freshman Olivia Hoelscher (32:55.98 – 120^th), junior Ana Garcia Camara (40:05.12 – 121^st) and freshman Samantha Galindo (40:09.50 – 122^nd).

For the men (8K), West Texas A&M scored 20 points to win by 57 points over Dallas Baptist. Rounding out the top five was UT Tyler (3^rd – 93 points), Oklahoma Christian (4^th – 134 points) and Cameron (5^th – 169).

The top runner was sophomore Racer Portillo who ran 40:37.64 to finish 115th. Rounding out the squad was sophomore Francisco Santacruz (40:37.71 – 116^th) and freshman Trajan Toliver (43:39.64 (117^th).
