Underneath the lights on Saturday, Sept. 28, the Sul Ross State football team takes on Texas A&M-Kingsville at Pepsi Field at Javelina Stadium for a 7 p.m. CST kickoff.
>> HEAD TO HEAD:
The Lobos are rekindling an old rivalry when they take on the Javelinas for the first time since 2022.
Both programs met previously in 2019, ending a 44-year hiatus.
Formerly known as Texas A&I, the Javelinas first met the Lobos in 1930.
The teams met off and on in 1930, 1931, 1934, 1936, 1937 and 1939 until the series was played more consistently from 1946-1975.
Texas A&M-Kingsville leads the all-time series 29-9-1. The Javelinas have won the last four meetings.
The Lobos last defeated the Javelinas in 1973. SRSU played Texas A&M-Kingsville twice in the '73 season, winning both contests.
>> SCOUTING THE JAVELINAS:
- Texas A&M-Kingsville is 2-1 after winning its last two games on the road over Mississippi College and UT Permian Basin.
- The Javelinas are led by head coach Michael Salinas who enters his fifth season since taking over the program after the 2019 season.
- Texas A&M-Kingsville scored 17 unanswered points in the first half during a 20-14 win over UT Permian Basin last week.
- Sophomore quarterback Teague Sedtal completed 15 of 24 passes for 196 yards and one touchdown vs. UT Permian Basin.
- Sedtal has thrown for 275 yards and one touchdown this season while completing 25 of 40 passes.
- The Javelinas held UT Permian Basin to 46 yards on the ground.
- Texas A&M-Kingsville had 125 yards rushing. Redshirt senior running back Roger Hagan led the attack with 116 yards on 27 carries.
- Hagan has 260 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 65 carries for the season.
- Graduate student wide receiver Jackson Allen leads the receiving corps with 10 catches for 147 yards.
- Sophomore linebacker Travis Bielefeld and junior linebacker Jaylen Hackney lead the defense with 15 total tackles each.

As teams start to settle into the grind of LSC play, Angelo State sits atop the conference after winning its last two contests.
Central Washington, Midwestern State and Texas A&M-Kingsville are all 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the LSC.
