Sul Ross Finishes Season Focused on Growth and the Future

Alpine, Texas - The Sul Ross State University football team (0–11) closed out its season on the road Saturday, falling 74–10 to UT Permian Basin (9–2) in Odessa, Texas.

The Lobos put together two scoring drives in the first half, highlighted by a 41-yard touchdown strike from quarterback Kye Callicoatte to Taribbean Ramirez late in the first quarter to complete a 7-play, 79-yard march. In the second quarter, Vicente Gariveay added the final points of the afternoon for Sul Ross with a 30-yard field goal. Yamil Oaxaca led the Lobos through the air, finishing with a team-high 134 receiving yards.

The season's adversity, under first-year head coach Lee Hays, provided opportunities for growth as the Lobos completed their final year of the NCAA Division II provisional period within the Lone Star Conference. The program now turns its focus toward development and building momentum heading into the offseason, aiming to take its next competitive step moving forward.
