Interim Tag Removed: John Dominguez officially named head women's soccer coach

Sul Ross State University Athletics has announced the removal of the interim tag from women's soccer head coach John Dominguez.

"I want to thank Amanda Workman and Pete Gallego for having the faith, support and confidence in me to lead our women's soccer team," said Dominguez. "I am excited for this opportunity and look forward to continuing to build on this great program."

Named interim head coach in August, Dominguez led a roster of just 14 to a 2-11 record. The Lobos ended the season on a high note with a convincing 5-1 win over LeTourneau on October 30.

Dominguez picked up his first collegiate coaching win on September 5 with a 1-0 victory over Schreiner.

"I am very excited to offer Coach Dominguez the opportunity to continue to lead the women's soccer program," said Workman. "He walked into a difficult situation with a very low roster number this fall. He did an amazing job keeping the girls engaged and encouraged, and has created a great culture for the program. This recruiting season he has done an tremendous job of growing the roster size. I am very excited to see what he does with the women's soccer program going forward."

A 2020 graduate of Sul Ross State, Dominguez played for the men's soccer team for two seasons from 2018-2019.
