John Dominguez

John Dominguez has quickly made his mark as one of the youngest and most dynamic coaches in collegiate soccer, leading the women’s soccer program at Sul Ross State since 2021.

Under his guidance, the team has undergone remarkable growth, expanding from a roster of 14 to an impressive 34 players.in just three years.  Dominguez has coached seven all-conference selection and has seen 53 academic all-conference honorees

Dominguez has not only elevated the team's performance on the field but also played a pivotal role in enhancing soccer facilities.

In his second year as head coach, he led the team to the quarterfinals of the ASC conference tournament, showcasing his tactical acumen and leadership under pressure.

Beyond the field, Dominguez has fostered a culture of academic excellence, resulting in a significant increase in the team GPA from 2.2 to 3.2.


Hailing from Katy, Texas, Dominguez has always been immersed in soccer, graduating from Katy High School before pursuing his academic and athletic aspirations. He earned his associates degree from Western Texas College in 2018 and completed his bachelor's degree in Kinesiology and Human Performance at Sul Ross State in fall 2020.

A former standout player for the Sul Ross State men's soccer team, Dominguez brings firsthand experience and expertise to his coaching role, having served as a two-year starter and accumulating over 2,500 minutes on the field as a defender. Transitioning seamlessly from player to coach, he continued to contribute to the program as a student assistant under former head coach Marquis Muse in 2020.

Prior to his tenure at Sul Ross State, Dominguez distinguished himself at Western Texas College, where he was a regional finals runner-up. He also showcased his skills in semi-professional soccer with the Texas Hawks F.C., further solidifying his reputation as a formidable athlete and leader.

Currently, Dominguez is leading the program through an exciting transition to NCAA Division II, where Sul Ross State women’s soccer will compete in the Lone Star Conference.

His vision, dedication, and passion are driving the team towards a future of continued success and excellence.
