Eight Sul Ross State University softball players have been listed to the American Southwest Conference post season awards list in an announcement Monday, May 7.
Senior catcher
Destanie Hernandez has been named an ASC Second Team All-Conference selection.
Hernandez batted a team-high .383 in 2018 after 118 at-bats. She led the team with 44 hits and posted seven doubles, six home runs and finished with 34 RBI.
Fellow senior
Jackie Gonzalez was named to the Third Team All-ASC list. Gonzalez finished 2018 with a 2.77 ERA and 139 innings pitched. She ranked fifth in the ASC in season strikeouts with 88. Gonzalez also posted 10 wins on the season.
Sophomore shortstop
Gabriela Raimondi was also named to the Third Team All-Conference team. Raimondi batted .308 on the season following 91 at-bats. She tallied 18 runs scored and posted 28 hits including five doubles and finished with 11 RBI.
Raimondi was also 7-for-7 in stolen base attempts, good for a team-high.
Honorable Mentions include junior first baseman
Anaya Losoya, junior second baseman
Jav'ana Gonzalez, freshman outfielder
Jennifer Flores and senior outfielders
Alexis Trotter and
Darrian Doederlein.
Losoya finished her junior campaign with a second team-best .377 batting average after 97 at-bats. She totaled 36 hits including seven doubles and posted 15 RBI.
Gonzalez tied teammate
Jennifer Flores with a team-high 21 runs scored. She finished 2018 with 32 hits including six doubles and a triple and recorded 12 RBI.
Flores ranked second in the ASC with 15 doubles and finished her freshman season with a .336 batting average with 107 at-bats. Flores tied Losoya with 36 hits including a second team-high four home runs. She also posted 19 RBI.
Trotter batted .318 this season with 110 at-bats. She totaled 16 runs scored and finished with 35 hits including 11 doubles and a triple and posted 23 RBI.
Doederlein recorded 17 hits including five doubles, a triple and a homer. She finished the season with 16 RBI.
Sul Ross wrapped up 2018 with a program-best 18 wins and reached the ASC post season tournament for the first time since 1999.
