Lady Lobos face pair of non conference foes on the road

Following a pair of conference road games last week the Sul Ross women's basketball team (2-5, 0-2)is on the road again for a two-game non conference series this week.

The Lady Lobos will face Dallas Christian in a 6 p.m. bout Thursday evening before tangling with the University of Dallas at 2 p.m. Saturday.

RECAP

Sul Ross dropped a pair of ASC road outings last week.

Following a 61-48 conference opening setback at LeTourneau last Thursday the Lady Lobos suffered a 71-55 loss to U.T. Tyler on Saturday.

In the game at Longview Mia Ochoa (Levelland/Whitharral) registered a team high 13 points while Kenya Miles (Tomball/Memorial) supplied 10 rebounds.

Sul Ross shot a dismal 29 percent from the field at 16 of 55 with several missed opportunities coming in  the paint.

The Yellow Jackets outpaced the Lady Lobos inside by a 24-10 margin in points in the paint.

Sully held the advantage in fast break and points off the bench by margins of 13-8 and 23-16.

Down 32-31 at the break U.T. Tyler used a 40-point attack in the second half to defeat the Sul  Ross Lady Lobos, 71-55 in ASC competition Saturday.

Jonette Jackson (Killeen/Shoemaker) and Miles led SRSU shooters with 10 points each in the effort. Miles was leading rebounder with seven.

Sul Ross shot nearly 40 percent from the field at 21-54 for the contest and finished eight of 11 at the free throw line at 73 percent.

Miles is currently the leading point producer for the Lady Lobos averaging an 11.1 clip. She also leads the team in rebounds at 5.7.

SCOUTING DCC and UD

DCC (2-5) is a member of the National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association (NCCAA) and in the Association of Christian College Athletics (ACCA). Sapora Richard leads the team averaging 14.5 points per game.

Other leading scorers for Dallas Christian include Brooke Stewart (12.2 ppg.) and  Hannah Foley (10.1 ppg.). Richard holds the most rebounds averaging 6.8 boards per contest.

A member of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference the University of Dallas (1-4) is coming off a 47-41 loss to visiting Hendrix College (Ark).

Seana Stoia leads the Crusaders averaging 14.2 points per game while Helen Onyenso leads in rebounds at 6.8.

UPCOMING

Following this week's series in Dallas, Sul Ross will make a quick trip to Hobbs, NM on December 16 for a 6:30 p.m. outing with University of the Southwest.

The Lady Lobos will then close out the month hosting Louisiana College on December 19 before embarking on their longest trip of the season to Clarksville, Ark. On January 2 to battle University of the Ozarks.
