Lobos Battle All Season Long

ALPINE, Texas – The 2025-26 Sul Ross State University women's basketball team never stopped playing hard the whole season.  The Lobos had two All-Lone Star Conference (LSC) selections, 10 rankings in the LSC with two leaders and 20 additions to the record book with three school records.

It was a challenging schedule with nine opponents qualifying for the postseason.  Six teams made NCAA Regionals including Colorado Mesa (National Semi-Finals) and Texas Women's (Regional Finalist).

Leslie Mojica made All-LSC honorable mention, the second straight season a Lobo has been honored.  Victoria Aguayo became the first Lobo to earn All-LSC Defensive honors.

Aguayo ended up setting the single season school steal record with 104 and led the Lone Star in minutes per game (36.50) and steals per game (4.00).  She finished her career ranked among the top 10 career in nine categories including being the all-time leader in games played (102) and steals (270) and second in rebounds (673).

Sul Ross State head coach EJ Smith
"It continues to be an adjustment for our program to compete at the D-II level, but I am extremely proud of each and every one of our student-athletes for putting in the work and never giving up throughout the season. They continue to grow on and off the court. I am so happy for my first four-year player in Victoria Aguayo, who set many records this season. She is a prime example of what it means for a student athlete to stay committed in this new era of college sports. I'm also proud of my co-captain Ariana Escalante for being a strong, kind leader for our team this season. We are lucky to have players like Ariana representing our program.

I'm also eager to see how some of our core players like Leslie (Mojica) and Sophiya (Bustillos) continue to grow and expand their game next year. Daisy Fernandez and Emma Schumacher had strong seasons for us in the paint.  Makayla Harris and Maddie Rhea had medical issues which hampered them this year.  They are getting stronger and I look forward to seeing them in action.  Thank you to our Lobos community and athletics staff for supporting us throughout the season!"
