PHOENIX, Ariz.- Three games into their 10-game road stretch, the Sul Ross women's basketball team will make the trek west to Phoenix for this weekend's ACU Classic hosted by Arizona Christian University.

The Lady Lobos are currently 1-2 on the season after  season opening losses at Huston-Tillotson and University of St. Thomas, both NAIA and scholarship opponents. Sully's first and only victory thus far came in Kerrville with a 56-55 edging over former ASC foe Schreiner on November 17.

A pair of exhibition games saw Sul Ross fall to Division II U.T. Permian Basin in a 49-39 decision on November 6 at the Gallego Center.

The Lady Lobos dropped a hard fought 54-35 contest in their last competition on November 19 at NCAA Division I University of the Incarnate Word of the Southland Conference. Both exhibition games do not count in official ASC or NCAA standings.

Sul Ross will face ACU on Friday in an 8 p.m. (Central) nightcap before closing out the two-game tournament on Saturday against Northern New Mexico College at 5 p.m. (Central). Both opponents are NAIA programs.

Arizona Christian currently sports a 4-3 record and is on a three-game skid following a pair of setbacks to BYU-Hawaii and Hawaii Pacific.

Meanwhile Northern New Mexico sits at 2-3 following a 77-54 victory over Central Christian (Kansas) and a 69-57 loss to Haskell Indian Nations University (Kansas) in tournament action in Denver.

ACU is a member of the Golden State Athletics Conference (GSAC) while NNMC is a member of the Association of Independent Institutions (AII).
