Lobos Take On Central Washington On The Road

ALPINE, Texas – The Sul Ross State University football team (0-1, 1-2) is at Central Washington (1-0 LSC, 1-2), Saturday, Sept. 26 at Tomlinson Stadium.

CENTRAL WASHINGTON (#14 – AFCA / #9 D2Football.com) - 6:00 p.m. (PST)
The Wildcats are coming off a 45-36 win over #10 Western Oregon, Sept. 19. Offensively, the Wildcats are led by Justin Brennan who is throwing for 259.67 yards per game with seven touchdowns and completing 73.63%. For the defense, Omar Lazcano has 14 solo tackles with 13 assists for 27 total tackles and 3.5 tackles for a loss.

CWU leads the series 2-0.

LAST WEEK
Sul Ross State lost 66-7 to The University of Texas Permian Basin (AFCA receiving votes), Sept. 19 at Jackson Field.

Will Howell finished the night with 200 yards in total offense, his third straight game at 200+ yards. Ronald Bell had four catches for 81 yards. Vince Arcuri got the Lobos on the board with a six-yard touchdown run.

Keithron Lee returned five kickoffs for 92 yards. Defensively, Jaeden Servantez broke up two passes and Javien Powell had his first collegiate interception.

LONE STAR PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Week 0 - Kyree Payton (Special Teams) returned two kickoffs for 113 yards vs. Wayland Baptist (Aug. 29). He returned one 90 yards for a touchdown. His second return was 23 yards and lead to a Lobo touchdown.

Week 1 - Will Howell (Offense) had a strong performance in leading Sul Ross State to a 53-26 win over Adams State (Sept. 5). He was 24-of-39 for 423 yards and five touchdowns and ran for 31 yards and a score to total 454 yards in total offense.

MR. KICKOFF RETURN
In two seasons, Kyree Payton has returned 29 kickoffs for 776 yards and two touchdowns. He is ranked fourth in career yards. Payton is one of only two players in NCAA program history to return two or more for touchdowns in a career.
