Lobos Fight Through Doubleheader with Falcons

Odessa, Texas — Sul Ross State University Baseball (3-35, LSC 3-35) continued its Lone Star Conference series against UT Permian Basin (12-26, LSC 12-26) with a Friday doubleheader at Roden Field, featuring a seven-inning game one and a nine-inning game two. The Falcons took both matchups over the Lobos, winning game one 18-5 and game two 18-13.

In game one, Sul Ross produced five runs on six hits, highlighted by Alfonso Lopez who drove in three runs, while Leo Salas added two hits and an RBI. The Lobos found momentum with a four-run fifth inning, but UT Permian Basin used big innings early to pull away and secure the win.

In game two, Sul Ross showed strong offensive production, tallying 13 runs on 11 hits in the nine-inning contest. Alfonso Lopez led the way with three hits, including a home run, and three RBIs, while Max Wiggins added a home run and three RBIs. Adan Velasquez contributed with two hits and three RBIs as the Lobos continued to battle offensively throughout the game despite the result.

Sul Ross returns home to continue Lone Star Conference play, hosting the University of Texas at Tyler in a four-game series beginning Friday, April 10 at Kokernot Field in Alpine, Texas.
