Alpine, Texas — Sul Ross State University Baseball (3-36, LSC 3-36) opened its Lone Star Conference series against No. 10 University of Texas at Tyler (30-9, LSC 30-9) Thursday afternoon at Kokernot Field. The Patriots took game one over the Lobos with a 19-1 final.
Sul Ross recorded four hits in the contest, with Leo Salas leading the way with two hits, while Brock Rogers added a double and scored the lone run for the Lobos. Jayden Hernandez also contributed with a hit as Sul Ross continued to compete offensively throughout the matchup. Despite the result, the Lobos continued to battle through each inning and will look to carry that effort into the remainder of the series.
Game two of the series was suspended due to a lightning delay with UT Tyler leading 3-1 going into the fourth inning. The game will resume Friday, April 10 at 12 p.m. Following the conclusion of the resumed game, the Lobos and Patriots will continue into the scheduled doubleheader, with game one set for seven innings and game two for nine innings, beginning approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the resumed game.
