Lobos Compete Against Falcons in Road Doubleheader

Odessa, Texas — Sul Ross State University Baseball (3-33, LSC 3-33) opened its Lone Star Conference series against UT Permian Basin (10-26, LSC 10-26) with a Thursday doubleheader at Roden Field, featuring a seven-inning game one and a nine-inning game two. The Falcons took both matchups over the Lobos, winning game one 3-2 and game two 5-0.

In game one, Sul Ross battled in a tightly contested seven-inning matchup, keeping pace with UT Permian Basin throughout the game. The Lobos recorded seven hits, led by Max Wiggins and Joseph Binder with two hits apiece. Alfonso Lopez and Wiggins each drove in a run, while the Lobos remained within one run heading into the final inning before the Falcons walked it off in the seventh.

In game two, Sul Ross was limited offensively despite recording four hits in the nine-inning contest. Leo Salas, Jacob Binder, Jayden Hernandez, and Aaron Flores each tallied a hit, while the Lobos pitching staff settled in after an early surge by UT Permian Basin. Jacob Schwope provided a strong relief effort, allowing just one run over 6.2 innings to keep the Lobos within reach throughout the game.
