Lobos Battle Patriots in LSC Series at Kokernot Field

Alpine, Texas — Sul Ross State University Baseball (3-39, LSC 3-39) continued its Lone Star Conference series against No. 10 University of Texas at Tyler (33-9, LSC 33-9) at Kokernot Field, completing the suspended game two before playing games three and four of the series on Friday. The Patriots took all three matchups over the Lobos.

In the resumed game two, Sul Ross fell 12-2 after play resumed in the fourth inning. Juan Garcia highlighted the Lobos offense with a home run and two RBIs, while Jacob Binder and Leo Salas each added doubles. Despite the early 3-1 deficit before the delay, Sul Ross stayed competitive before UT Tyler used late innings to extend the lead.

In game three, the Lobos were defeated 22-3 in the seven-inning contest. Sul Ross recorded seven hits, led by Leo Salas with two hits, while Max Wiggins and Corbin Montayne each delivered home runs. Wiggins drove in two runs and Montayne added an RBI as the Lobos continued to find offensive production against the Patriots.

In game four, Sul Ross battled throughout the full nine-inning matchup but fell 16-5. The Lobos tallied nine hits, with Leo Salas leading the way with two hits and two runs scored. Juan Garcia added two RBIs, while Jared Salinas highlighted the offense with a home run. Jayden Hernandez and Alfonso Lopez each contributed with hits as Sul Ross continued to compete offensively through the series finale.

The Lobos continue Lone Star Conference play with a four-game series hosting UT Dallas, with the opening game of the series set for Friday, April 17 at Kokernot Field.
