Lobos Face Off Against Lady Buffs

ALPINE, Texas – The Sul Ross State University softball team (0-12 Lone Star Conference, 2-17) lost 9-0 and 14-2 to #3 West Texas A&M (11-1 LSC, 21-3), Sunday afternoon at Lobo Softball Field. 

Game-1
West Texas A&M struck first scoring two runs in the first inning.  In the second inning, the Lobos led off with a walk to freshman Baylie Savage and a single by sophomore Andrea Apodaca.

The Lady Buffs got a pop-up, caught stealing and another pop-up to stop the threat.  WTAMU scored three runs in the third inning to take control.

For Sul Ross State, freshman Jaclyn Pate (0-6) gave up 10 hits, nine runs with eight earned, walked one and struck out four in five innings.

For West Texas A&M, Brooke Janning (9-1) gave up one hit, walked two and struck out two in five innings.

Game-2
West Texas A&M again struck first with a run in the first inning.  SRSU had a runner on base in each of the first two innings but were held off.  The Lady Buffs scored 12 runs in the third inning to effectively seal the game.

For Sul Ross State, sophomore Janelle Leanos (1-4) gave up five hits, five runs with four earned and struck out one in two innings.

For West Texas A&M, Laci Peskey (9-2) gave up five hits, two runs, walked two and struck out one batter in three innings.

Sul Ross State takes to the road, Friday, Mar. 13, taking on Texas Woman's.  The doubleheader is scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m..
