Lobos Close Series with Hilltoppers

Austin, Texas – Sul Ross State University Baseball (1–21, 1–21 LSC) concluded its four-game Lone Star Conference series against St. Edward's University (15–6, 15–6 LSC) Friday afternoon at Lucian-Hamilton Field, falling in both games of the doubleheader to close the weekend series.

In Game 1 of Friday's doubleheader, the Lobos kept the contest competitive throughout the afternoon before St. Edward's secured a 6–3 victory. Corbin Montayne highlighted the Sul Ross offense with a two-run home run, while Adan Velasquez added a solo home run. Brock Rogers, Max Wiggins, and Alfonso Lopez each contributed hits as the Lobos totaled five hits in the seven-inning contest.

In Game 2, Sul Ross struck early as Max Wiggins delivered a two-run home run in the opening inning. Leo Salas later added a two-run homer, while Wiggins finished with three RBIs and Jayden Hernandez and Brock Rogers each drove in a run during a four-run seventh inning rally. Tommy King also contributed two hits as the Lobos totaled seven hits in the series finale.

The Lobos return home next weekend to host West Texas A&M University for a four-game Lone Star Conference series at Kokernot Field in Alpine, Texas, with the first game scheduled for March 13 (Fri) at 3:00 p.m.
