Lobos Battle Aggies in Tight Sunday Finish

Alpine, Texas — Sul Ross State University Baseball (3-31, LSC 3-31) concluded its four-game Lone Star Conference series against Cameron University (13-20, LSC 13-20) Sunday afternoon at Kokernot Field. The Aggies took the series finale over the Lobos with a 9-7 final.

Sul Ross battled throughout the contest in a tightly contested game, keeping pace with Cameron inning-by-inning and remaining within reach late into the matchup. The Lobos recorded 10 hits and continued to apply pressure offensively across multiple innings. Max Wiggins led the Lobos with two hits including a home run, while Jacob Binder added a two-run home run in the ninth inning to highlight a late push. Alfonso Lopez drove in three runs, and Jayden Hernandez finished with two hits and an RBI as Sul Ross continued to produce at the plate.

Sul Ross continues Lone Star Conference play on the road at UT Permian Basin with a four-game series beginning April 2 Thursday at 2 p.m., followed by a Friday doubleheader on April 3 with first pitches scheduled for 12 p.m. and 3 p.m., and concluding Saturday, April 4 at 1 p.m.
