Lobos Hunt Down Greyhounds in Game One Victory

Portales, N.M. - Sul Ross State University Baseball (2-25, LSC 2-25) opened its four-game Lone Star Conference road series Friday at Greyhound Baseball Field against Eastern New Mexico University (8-19, LSC 8-19). The Lobos came out swinging early and never looked back, taking game one of the series with an 11-5 win over the Greyhounds.

Sul Ross exploded for 10 runs in the top of the first inning, setting the tone from the start. Joseph Binder led the offensive charge by going 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a double, while Corbin Montayne finished 2-for-4 with a triple, double, and RBI. Max Wiggins scored three runs and added an RBI, while Jacob Binder collected two hits and Alfonso Lopez crossed the plate twice in the win. On the mound, Jacob Schwope earned the win in relief, tossing 4.2 innings while allowing just one run, none earned, and striking out five as Sul Ross finished with 11 hits and an error-free performance in a strong all-around team effort.
