Lobos Split Day with Greyhounds

Portales, N.M. - Sul Ross State University Baseball (3-26, LSC 3-26) continued its four-game Lone Star Conference series Saturday with a doubleheader split against Eastern New Mexico University (9-20, LSC 9-20) at Greyhound Baseball Field.

In game one of the doubleheader, the Lobos carried momentum from Friday and secured a 9-6 victory. Sul Ross jumped out early with six runs in the first inning and never surrendered the lead. Jayden Hernandez led the offense with a 3-for-3 performance and two RBIs, while Max Wiggins added two hits including a home run. Joseph Binder also recorded two hits and scored twice in the win. On the mound, Brayan Navarrete earned the victory in relief, tossing three scoreless innings as the Lobos finished with 12 hits in a strong offensive showing.

In game two, Eastern New Mexico responded to take a 16-10 win in a high-scoring contest. The Greyhounds used a big second inning to take control early, but Sul Ross battled back late with an eight-run sixth inning to cut into the deficit. Leo Salas led the Lobos with two hits and an RBI, while Luke Garrett delivered a key pinch-hit triple driving in two runs. Brock Rogers also contributed with two hits and an RBI in the effort as Sul Ross totaled 10 hits in the game.

Lobos and Greyhounds continue the four-game series into Sunday, March 22 with a first pitch scheduled for 2:00 PM MT to conclude the series.
