Lobos and Javelinas Trade Runs in Kokernot Field Finale

Alpine, Texas – Sul Ross State University Baseball (1–17, 1–17 LSC) closed its four-game Lone Star Conference series against Texas A&M University–Kingsville (12–6, 12–6 LSC) Sunday afternoon at Kokernot Field, falling 26–15 in a high-scoring finale.

Despite the final score, the Lobos delivered one of their most productive offensive performances of the season, erupting for nine runs in the third inning and totaling 14 hits and 15 runs on the afternoon. Leo Salas drove in four runs, while Joseph Binder went 4-for-5 with four RBIs and Brock Rogers added a three-run home run as part of a four-RBI day. Jacob Binder finished with two hits and three runs scored, and Alfonso Lopez contributed an extra-base hit and an RBI as Sul Ross continued to apply pressure throughout the lineup and battled into the late innings against a deep Texas A&M–Kingsville pitching staff.

The Lobos hit the road next weekend as Sul Ross State travels to face St. Edward's University for a four-game series, beginning Friday, March 6, with first pitch scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
