Lobos Close Three-Game Set vs. Chaps

Lubbock, Texas — Sul Ross State University Baseball (1–5, LSC 1–5) closed the three-game Lone Star Conference series Sunday afternoon with an 11–4 setback to Lubbock Christian University (2–4, LSC 2–4) at Hays Field. The Chaps used a six-run fifth inning to create separation and secure the series finale.

Sul Ross was led offensively by Leo Salas and Joseph Binder. Salas finished 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI, while Binder added a hit, scored a run, and drew two walks. Jayden Hernandez also drove in a run for the Lobos, and Brock Rogers chipped in with a double as Sul Ross totaled seven hits on the afternoon. On the mound, Kazuto Matsuda made the start for the Lobos, allowing three runs over four innings before the bullpen worked the remainder of the game, as Sul Ross showed late resilience by scoring runs in the seventh and eighth innings.

Sul Ross returns home to Kokernot Field for a four-game series against the San Angelo State Rams, with the series opener scheduled for Friday, February 13 at 2:00 PM in Alpine, Texas.
