Lobos Battle Tough Against Rams

SAN ANGELO, Texas – Three players scored in double figures as the Sul Ross State University men's basketball team (2-12 Lone Star Conference, 4-15) lost 69-51 to Angelo State (6-8 LSC, 15-10), Saturday afternoon at Stephens Arena.

For virtually the entire first half, the lead was never more than four points, either way.  Junior Tim Mikhailov hit a pair of charity tosses to tie the game at 24-24 with 1:07 to go.  Angelo State scored the last five points to lead 29-24 at halftime.

The second half was more of the same for the first nine minutes.  Junior Antwonne Holmes hit a layup off a fast break.

That closed the gap to 46-45 at the 10:52 mark.  The Rams scored 11 straight points to take control.

The Lobos held ASU to 26.3% on triples, the fifth straight game that an opponent shot under .300.

For Sul Ross State, Mikhailov had 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting, senior Christian Nevarez scored 12 with two 3-pointers and Holmes scored 10 points.

For Angelo State, Jhordan Ryan had 20 points and 11 rebounds.
