Lubbock, Texas — Sul Ross State University Baseball (0–4, LSC 0–4) opened a three-game Lone Star Conference series Friday afternoon against Lubbock Christian University (1–3, LSC 1–3), a program receiving votes in the national rankings, at Hays Field and the City Bank Clubhouse. The Chaps took game one of the series, defeating the Lobos 12–4 in conference action.

Offensively, Sul Ross was led by Max Wiggins and Jared Salinas at the plate. Wiggins finished the afternoon going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, while Salinas added a solo home run and an RBI, accounting for two of the Lobos' four runs. On the mound, Gage Cobb made the start for Sul Ross, working 4.1 innings while striking out two before the bullpen took over.

The Lobos and Chaps continue the three-game Lone Star Conference series on Saturday, with game two scheduled for a 2:00 PM first pitch at Hays Field and the City Bank Clubhouse in Lubbock, Texas.
