Alpine, Texas — Sul Ross State University Women's Basketball (3–18, LSC 2–13) hosted Western New Mexico University (1–22, LSC 1–15) Thursday evening at the Pete P. Gallego Center in Alpine, Texas. The Mustangs secured a 49–45 decision to win the tightly contested Lone Star Conference matchup against the Lobos.
Sul Ross was led by senior guard Victoria Aguayo, who delivered an all-around performance for the Lobos. Aguayo finished with 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting, including 2-of-4 from three-point range, while playing all 40 minutes. She added seven rebounds, four assists, and five steals, with her defensive effort pushing her career total to 253 steals, making her the all-time leader in career steals in Sul Ross State University Women's Basketball program history.
The Lobos remain home for a Lone Star Conference matchup on Thursday, Feb. 19, when Sul Ross State hosts St. Mary's University (Texas) at the Pete P. Gallego Center, with tipoff set for 5:30 p.m.
