Lobos Can’t Stampede Mustangs

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The Sul Ross State University volleyball team (0-2 Lone Star Conference, 2-6) lost 3-0 (25-11, 25-15, 25-11) to Midwestern State (2-0 LSC, 8-2), Saturday afternoon at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. 

In the first set, Sul Ross State and Midwestern State slugged it out early.  Up 9-7, the Mustangs went on a 7-2 run to effectively end the set.

In the second set, MSU came out swinging jumping to a 10-2 lead to take control. 

In the third set, senior Cassandra Espinoza crushed the ball off the block to put the Lobos up 5-4.  Midwestern State went on an 11-2 burst to close out the match.

Sul Ross State opens the home season, Thursday, Oct. 2, playing Texas A&M Kingsville.  The match is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m.
