Sul Ross State Closes Series With Falcons

ALPINE, Texas – The Sul Ross State University baseball team (3-37 Lone Star Conference, 4-37) lost 26-11 to The University of Texas Permian Basin (13-23 LSC, 13-24), Monday afternoon at Kokernot Field.

UT Permian Basin took the earl lead at 2-0 after one inning.  In the second inning, freshman Luke Garrett doubled and went to third on a wild pitch.  Junior Corbin Montayne singled to score Garrett and make it 2-1.

The Falcons surged ahead to 8-1 after 3 ½ innings.  In the bottom of the fourth, the Lobos used eight hits to score six runs.

That cut the gap to one, 8-7.  UTPB scored five runs in the fifth inning to effectively end the game.

For Sul Ross State, sophomore Rene Ramos had three hits with a home run and drove in four runs while Garrett had three hits, scored two runs, drove in two runs and hit a home run.  Junior Aiden Becker (2-2) gave up six hits, eight runs with three earned, walked three and struck out two in three innings.

For UT Permian Basin, Trevor Barth (1-8) gave up 10 hits, seven runs, walked four and struck out six in five innings.

Sul Ross State hits the road, Friday, Apr. 11 taking on UT Tyler.  The game is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.
