Sul Ross State Can’t Snare The Eagles

ALPINE, Texas – The Sul Ross State University baseball team (3-42 Lone Star Conference, 4-43) lost 18-6 to Oklahoma Christian (10-35 LSC, 11-36), Friday at Kokernot Field.

The Eagles were in cruise control, up 7-0 after three innings.  In the fourth inning, the Lobos used three hits and four walks to score five runs.

In the bottom of the fifth, sophomore Rene Ramos hit a solo home run to cut the gap to 7-6.  OCU scored five runs in the sixth to take control.

For Sul Ross State, fifth year player Primo Vasquez had a two-run home run, Ramos scored two runs and junior Chris Ulloa drove in two runs.  Senior Ryan Sandoval (1-11) gave up nine hits, seven runs, walked two and struck out five in 4.7 innings.

For Oklahoma Christian, Sam Collins (1-1) gave up a hit, walked one and struck out one in two-thirds of an inning.

Sul Ross State remains home, Apr. 26 when they play Oklahoma Christian.  The doubleheader is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m.
