Sul Ross State Dukes It Out With Patriots

TYLER, Texas – Sophomore Rene Ramos had three hits as the Sul Ross State University baseball team (3-40 Lone Star Conference, 4-40) lost 7-1 and 15-3 to #7 UT Tyler (31-8 LSC, 32-9), Saturday at Irwin Field.

Game 1
In the first inning, Ramos smacked a home run over the left field fence to make it 1-0 Lobos.  SRSU made some strong defensive plays to keep the Patriots off the board for three innings.

Starting in the fourth inning, UTT scored seven runs over the next three innings to take control.

For Sul Ross State, senior Alvaro Hernandez (0-4) gave up four hits, two runs and walked three in four innings.

For UT Tyler, Miles Clack (5-0) gave up three hits, one run and struck out five in five innings.

Game 2
The Patriots scored six runs over the first two innings to seal the game.

For Sul Ross State, junior Corbin Montayne and Ramos had two hits each.  Senior Jacob Salinas (0-7) gave up six hits, eight runs with six earned, walked three and struck out one in two innings.

For UT Tyler, Nash Villegas (2-0) gave up three hits, one run, walked two and struck out four in two innings.

Sul Ross State closes out the series with UT Tyler, Sunday, Apr. 13.  The game is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m.
