Lobos Battle All Game With Aggies

LAWTON, Okla. – The Sul Ross State University baseball team (2-31 Lone Star Conference, 3-31) lost 7-5 to Cameron (7-22 LSC, 7-22), Friday night at McCord Field.

Cameron took a 5-0 lead after three innings.  In the fourth, junior Aaron Morales led off with a walk, followed by a home run from sophomore Rene Ramos.

Junior Brock Rogers blasted the ball over the centerfield fence to make it 5-3.  The Aggies looked to have it wrapped it up, leading 7-3 after seven innings.

In the eighth, freshman Alfonso Lopez singled and junior Chris Ulloa and Ramos were hit by pitches.  That loaded the bases with one out.

Lopez scored on a sacrifice fly.  Rogers singled to drive in Ulloa.  That was as close as the Lobos could get.

For Sul Ross State, Rogers had two hits and drove in two runs.  Senior Ryan Sandoval (1-8) gave up five hits, six runs with four earned, walked five and struck out six 5.7 innings.

For Cameron, Ryken Brandsma (1-3) gave up four hits, three runs, walked one and struck out nine in five innings.

Sul Ross State stays on the road, Saturday, Mar. 29 playing Cameron.  The doubleheader is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m.
