Lobos Ground The Falcons

ODESSA, Texas – Junior Joseph Binder had a day at the plate as the Sul Ross State University baseball team (3-30) beat The University of Texas Permian Basin (8-21) 11-7, Tuesday afternoon at Roden Field.  The win snapped a 19-game-losing streak.

UT Permian Basin struck first scoring two runs in the first inning.  In the second inning, Binder doubled down the right field line and stole third.

Junior Brock Rogers laced a double down the left field line to score Binder.  Freshman Luke Garrett reached on a fielder's choice that got Rogers out.

Garrett went to third on a failed pickoff attempt.  He would score on a base hit by junior Chris Ulloa.  Ulloa stole second and went to third on a wild pitch.  Senior Ricardo Franco hit a double that scored Ulloa.

The Falcons scored in the bottom of the second to make it 3-3.  The Lobos scored seven runs over the next two innings to effectively seal the game.

For Sul Ross State, Binder had four hits, scored three runs and drove in three runs while Garrett and Ulloa had two hits and two RBI's a piece.  Junior Aiden Becker (1-1) gave up one hit, one run and walked one in one inning.

For UT Permian Basin, Taven Hathaway (0-1) gave up three hits, three runs and walked one in 1/3rd of an inning.

Sul Ross State takes to the road, Friday, Mar. 28 to take on Cameron.  The game is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m.
