Lobos Battle Rams On The Road

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Sul Ross State University baseball team (1-10 Lone Star Conference, 1-10) lost 25-4 and 18-0 to #2 Angelo State (9-2 LSC, 9-2), Saturday at Foster Field.

Game 1
In the first inning, Sul Ross State had two runners on with one out. Angelo State turned a double play to end the threat.  The Rams scored 14 runs in the bottom half to seal the game.

For Sul Ross State, juniors Joseph Binder and Aaron Morales had two hits each while 5th year player Primo Vasquez had a two-run home run.  Senior Darren Acosta (0-3) gave up three hits, eight runs, walked four and struck out one in one-third of an inning.

For Angelo State, Dax Dathe (2-1) gave up five hits, two runs, walked three and struck out five in four innings.

Game 2
The Lobos had a runner on in each of the first two innings; however, ASU kept them off the board.  Up 4-0, Angelo State scored seven runs in the third to take control.

For Sul Ross State, Vasquez had two hits.  Senior Ryan Sandoval (1-2) gave up 11 hits, 12 runs with 10 earned, walked five and struck out one in five innings.

For Angelo State, Johnny Stacy (2-0) gave up three hits and struck out two in four innings.

Sul Ross closes out the series with Angelo State, Sunday, Feb. 16.  The game is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m.
