Lobos See The Comets Fly By

RICHARDSON, Texas – The Sul Ross State University volleyball team (1-13 LSC, 3-18) lost 3-0 (25-17, 26-24, 25-17) to UT Dallas (4-9 LSC, 7-17), Saturday afternoon at the UTD Activity Center. 

In the first set, UT Dallas and Sul Ross battled on even terms.  Senior Sarah Chavez found the back corner to close the gap to 8-6.  The Comets went on a 9-4 run to effectively seal the set.

In the second set, a kill by freshman Samantha Senak put the Lobos up 12-10.  UTD ran off an 8-2 run to look to be in control at 18-14.

Down 24-21, SRSU got a kill from senior Cassandra Espinoza and two aces from junior BreAnna Quarles.  That made it 24-24.  UT Dallas got the next two points to survive. 

In the third set, up 15-14, the Comets scored seven straight to end the match.

For Sul Ross State, sophomore Novah Carrasco had nine kills and hit .571 while Quarles had 18 digs.

For UT Dallas, Jane Burkhardt had 18 kills.

Sul Ross State stays on the road, Saturday, Nov. 8, playing Western New Mexico.  The match is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m. MT
