Big Plays, Big Heart from the Lobos!

Portales, N.M. – The Sul Ross State University football team (0-9, 0-7 LSC) fell in a hard-fought 40-34 battle against Eastern New Mexico (3-6, 3-4 LSC) on Saturday evening at Al Whitehead Field at Steve Loy Family Foundation Stadium in Portales, New Mexico.

Sul Ross opened the game with a 9-play, 65-yard drive capped by a 5-yard touchdown run from Jose Trevino and added a 25-yard field goal from Vicente Gariveay to take an early 10-6 lead. Trevino continued to shine in the second half with a 60-yard touchdown run in the third quarter and a 3-yard score early in the fourth, while Gariveay added another field goal. Landen Drake closed out the scoring with a 26-yard touchdown reception from Kye Callicoatte late in the game. The Lobos totaled 501 yards of offense, led by Callicoatte, who threw for 302 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 96 yards on 14 carries. Trevino added 87 rushing yards and three touchdowns, and the receiving corps was paced by Yamil Oaxaca with 80 yards, Taribbean Ramirez with 87 yards, Isaiah Pena with 64 yards, and Drake with 52 yards and a score.

Sul Ross returns home to face Central Washington on Saturday, Nov. 8, at 7:00 p.m. in Alpine, Texas, at Jackson Field for Senior Day.
