Lobos See Cowgirls Ride By

ABILENE, Texas – The Sul Ross State University volleyball team (3-16) lost 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-13) to Hardin-Simmons (14-8), Wednesday night at the Mabee Complex. 

In the first set, Hardin-Simmons and Sul Ross State went back-and-forth until 12-8, Cowgirls.  HSU went on a 6-2 run to take control.

In the second set, Hardin-Simmons jumped out 5-1.  Senior Cassandra Espinoza blasted the ball off the block to end a 6-1 run by the Lobos.

That made it 7-6, SRSU.  The Cowgirls had an 11-4 burst to put the set out of reach.

In the third set, HSU jumped out 9-2 to effectively end the match.

For Sul Ross State, Espinoza had nine kills and hit .438 while junior BreAnna Quarles collected nine digs.

For Hardin-Simmons, Kat Martinez had 14 digs.

Sul Ross State stays on the road, Friday, Oct. 31, playing UT Tyler.  The match is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m.
