Lobos Continue to Grow in Conference Play

ALPINE, Texas — Sul Ross State University football team (0-6, LSC 0-4) fell 69–23 to Midwestern State (2-4, LSC 2-2) Saturday evening at Jackson Field in Alpine.

Quarterback Kye Callicoatte led the Lobos with 213 passing yards, 133 rushing yards as a team, and three total touchdowns—two through the air and one on the ground. Isaiah Pena paced the receivers with seven catches for 101 yards and a touchdown. Sul Ross scoring drives included a 27-yard touchdown pass from Callicoatte to Yamil Oaxaca, a 28-yard field goal by Vicente Gariveay, a 42-yard touchdown connection to Peña, and a 6-yard rushing score from Callicoatte late in the fourth quarter.

Sul Ross continues Lone Star Conference play on the road Saturday, October 18, at Western New Mexico on Ben Altamirano Field in Silver City, New Mexico, with kickoff set for 7:00 p.m. MT.
