Lobos Slug It Out With Chaparrals

LUBBOCK, Texas –The Sul Ross State University men's basketball team (0-8 Lone Star Conference, 1-12) lost 84-54 to Lubbock Christian (6-1 LSC, 11-4), Thursday night at Rip Griffin Center.

For the first eight minutes of the game, Sul Ross State and Lubbock Christian played on even terms.  At the 1:38 mark, junior Deon Brown cashed in his long-distance calling card.

That put the Lobos up 7-4.  With 11:43 to go, Lubbock Christian who was up five) went on a 9-2 run to finally take control.

The Lobos pulled down 22 defensive boards to just seven offensive for LCU.  That was the telling factor as the Chaps had just six second chance points.

For Sul Ross State, Brown had nine points with two triples and senior Ethan Yancy had nine points and seven rebounds.

For Lubbock Christian, Ty Caswell had 18 points and two steals.

Sul Ross State keeps to the road, Saturday, Jan. 11 taking on Midwestern State.  The game is scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m.
