Sul Ross State Battles Tough With Rams

ALPINE, Texas – Senior Ethan Yancy had a double-double as the Sul Ross State University men's basketball team (0-7 Lone Star Conference, 1-11) lost 77-64 to Angelo State (5-2 LSC, 9-4), Sunday afternoon at the Pete P. Gallego Center.

Angelo State scored the first 15 points of the game.  Sul Ross reeled off an 8-2 run, finished with a jumper from Yancy.

That made it 17-8, Rams at the 9:21 mark.  ASU went on a 13-4 burst over the next six minutes to take control.

For Sul Ross State, Yancy had 22 points, 11 rebounds, two steals and hit three 3-pointers.    Senior Tyler Jackson had 14 points, five assists and four steals and senior Cailean Ables scored 12 points with three steals.  SRSU held the Rams to just 33.3% on 3-pointers.

For Angelo State, Sterling Gaston-Chapman scored 22 points and hit three triples.

Sul Ross State hits the road, Thursday, Jan. 9 taking on Lubbock Christian.  The game is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.
