KINGSVILLE, Texas — On Saturday night, the Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas outscored the Sul Ross State football team 28-7 in the second half to come away with the 56-21 victory at Pepsi Field at Javelina Stadium.
>> HOW IT HAPPENED:
Using an eight-play, 45-yard drive, the Javelinas scored on a two-yard run by Roger Hagan with 9:32 in the opening quarter.
The Lobos answered with a seven-play drive that ended with a 49-yard touchdown pass from
Andrew Martinez to
Austin Ogunmakin with 5:47 on the clock.
Texas A&M-Kingsville scored twice more to take a commanding 21-7 lead as Santana Scott scored on an eight-yard run and Teague Sedtal threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Jackson Allen.
Sul Ross State managed to make it a one-score game after Martinez connected with
Yamil Oaxaca for a five-yard touchdown pass to cap off a 16-play, 73-yard drive with 1:10 to go until halftime.
The Javelinas scored once more with four seconds on the clock to take a 28-14 lead into the locker room after Sedtal threw an eight-yard touchdown pass to Isaiah Smalls.
Sedtal went on to throw two more touchdowns in the second half as he connected with Smalls for a 33-yard score and Scott for a 21-yard touchdown.
With second-string quarterback
Tucker Bridwell in the game, the Lobos went 65 yards in 16 plays to find the end zone on a one-yard run by Bridwell with 3:36 in the third quarter.
The Javelina offense scored twice more on a two-yard run by Raymond Hudson and a five-yard run by Kannon Williams to lead by 35 points.

- Martinez completed 13 of 25 passes for 227 yards while throwing two touchdowns.
- Bridwell went 12 for 18 for 125 yards.
- The Lobos led the way with 346 receiving yards.
- Ogunmakin made five catches for 150 yards with one touchdown. He also had a 53-yard reception.
- Oaxaca had 11 catches for 113 yards with one touchdown.
- The Javelinas dominated the rushing attack with 221 yards while the Lobos were held to just two yards on the ground.
- Texas A&M-Kingsville had eight different players carry the ball while it used 11 different receivers.
- Sedtal finished with 230 yards passing while going 17 for 25 with four touchdowns.
- The Javelina defense came away with six sacks.
- Tamir Bullock led the defense with 11 total tackles, 10 solo tackles and one pass breakup.
- Quincy Blair had nine total tackles.
- The Lobos had four tackles for loss as Elijah Gomez had two.
